Pavement Vaults brings you the finest, most flavoursome BBQ and smoked food alongside a top drawer range of craft beer, wine and cocktails.
Located in the heart of historic York on the south side of Parliament Square, like the majority of York Pavement Vaults and its earlier incarnations are steeped in history. Originally it was part of Pavement, a medieval street dating back to 1378, but was bisected in order to make way for Piccadilly. Prior to the demolition the site was a coaching inn. The White Swan Hotel was built on the site in 1912 and the “Centre Bar,” housed within the hotel, was a popular hangout for York’s young hedonists.
Food
We’re proudly Yorks very first smokehouse, serving a varying selection of small plates, burgers and BBQ smoked meat trays. Imported from Cape Girardeau Missouri, our ‘Ole Hickory’ smokers distinctive design maximises smoke intake whilst cooking the meat low & slow over Yorkshire Oak for up to 12 hours. Our dry rubs, sauces and even right down to our brioche are made in-house as a labour of love by our passionate kitchen team.
Drinks
On the bar we’ve got an impressive selection of 6 cask and 12 keg beers. Whilst many of our lines rotate you’ll always find a few house favourites on the bar. Timothy Taylors Landlord, Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier, Kirkstall Virtuous and most notably Mittel Pilsner. Recently crowned Gold medal winner at the International Brewing Awards, this wonderfully balanced pils is brewed according to the 1516 German purity law using advanced brewing technology, only the finest German malt and hops and an extensive maturation period.
Alongside this, we’ve proud to offer a contemporary wine list, an extensive selection of international spirits and innovative hand-made cocktails.
